Talk to yourself,

let your essence be the answer,

while we chase the meaning of who we are,

navigating through a storm.

“Lotus” - Soen

Having spent the last 6 months digging deep into the muddy depths of their emotions, the nine songs comprising Lotus are intoxicating, addictive aural therapies, questioning much of today’s darkness while juxtaposing them with moments of great escape and hope.

We are all very fortunate to have this place where we can go and explore thoughts, perspectives and emotions which everyday life maybe does not have the room for,” says Martin Lopez, one of Soen’s founding members, “there are definitely things that we say, and places we go, in Soen which would be very hard to express without us coming together and creating music.

Produced by David Castillo and Iñaki Marconi at Ghostward Studios and Studio 6 between July and October 2018, the album marks the first recorded Soen work of new Canadian-born guitarist Cody Ford, whilst the centre-point of the album remains those trademark, snap-heavy, progressive Soen riffs. Songs such as “Rival”, “Covenant” and “Martyrs” are dissertations on modern societies, fraught with poetic, finitely designed confusion and chaos, yet as the name Lotus suggests, there is still strength, beauty and purity to be extracted from what at times seems like an endless cycle of human regression.

The world right now is undeniably a very strange, tense place,” says Lopez, “I think the songs clearly reflect that, but they also reflect that we must now be stronger than ever in challenging confronting and dealing with the pandemonium life throws at us all.”

The lavish Lotus artwork features nothing other than an enigmatic and engaging copper-reflective pyramid, offering elements of the 6th sense and greater consciousness before gate-folding open to reveal a girl touched by the copper aura.

We each have our own personal ideas as to what it means,” says Lopez, “but we’d much rather discuss what others think, what our audience think, what the media thinks. I think it’s extremely important that we all communicate with each other and take the time to fully conceive our own meanings and interactions with life and creativity.

Ultimately,” concludes Ekelöf, “Lotus is about rising from whatever darkness, or dark places, you might find yourself. And its inspiration comes from a deep motivation to not just settle for the situation you might find yourself in. Lotus is about changing life -both your own and your surroundings for which we must all take responsibility- and make them better rather than letting darkness pacify you and take you down.

Soen will be bringing Lotus on the road with them as they tour Europe starting in March 2019, which will herald an exciting new chapter of skin-shedding, soul-searching and self-realizing Soenjourns for all who dare to commit to the ride.

WHEEL

Biography

Wheel are based in Helsinki, Finland and have been working together since 2015 when former guitarist, Saku introduced James Lascelles (singer/guitarist) to Mikko Määttä (bassist) and Santeri Saksala (drummer).

James had some home demos that he had been working on which became the foundation for The Path EP (2017) after months of tweaking and re-arranging by the band. The EP was originally planned to be a demo and was recorded in only two days but the tracking process went so well that they decided to get the songs professionally mixed by one of Finland's most talented producers, Jesse Vainio.

Saku Mattila left the band to pursue other projects at the beginning of 2018 and was replaced by Roni Seppänen.

Wheel are known for their meticulous attention to detail, a fondness for unusual meters and poly- rhythms and their explosive live shows. They have already toured Germany and the UK and are planning more shows in 2018 to support their recently released, The Divide EP that came out on 1.6.2018.

Ghost Iris

Not only is Ghost Iris one of the leading progressive metalcore bands out of Denmark, but also serves as a perfect example for the modern days musical market. Having started as a DIY internet phenomenon in 2015 the band not only managed to build a strong team behind them, but also made their mark in the main metal community in a rather short space of time.

In 2016 the band achieved having the most streamed Danish metal album on Spotify at 1,6 million streams, and at the time of writing their general streams are in excess of 5 million.
Their two first albums “Anecdotes Of Science & Soul” & “Blind World” have both received grand praise by Metal Hammer, KERRANG! and It Djents for their playful, yet catchy approach to technical metal.

Technically enhanced, yet melodic guitars; fast-driven, yet groovy drums and an extraordinary wide vocal range from diverse angry growls to striking clean vocals are the band ́s signature. With the aim to provide the listener an experience that is as catchy and varied as it is hard-hitting, Ghost Iris manages to explore diverse moods and atmospheres.

Ghost Iris is now gearing up to release their third album titled “APPLE OF DISCORD” via Long Branch Records/SPV, one of the leading labels for progressive and innovative rock and metal music and the band ́s home base. The album will reflect the transformation the band has made since their founding only a few years ago. A transformation based on relentless motivation and optimism, personal and musical progress & growth and numerous touring experiences.

The album will contain 10 songs of intensity, wrath and of course: the antidote.

With APPLE OF DISCORD Ghost Iris is aiming to step up their touring game even more and will be heading out on multiple national and international tours throughout 2019 and onwards.
GHOST IRIS has already been making an appearance and leaving a lasting impression with their energetic live performance at well-known festivals such as COPENHELL, EUROBLAST, UK TECH METAL FEST and DISSONANCE and on tour throughout EUROPE, UK, CHINA and JAPAN.
